Situated in the Highlands, Inverness Airport
(INV) operates as the main entryway to air
travel in the North of Scotland. The terminal
administrates over 330 scheduled flights per
week to a variety of destinations in both
Scotland and the UK, with over 558,000 passengers
travelling through the terminal per year.
Inverness Airport offers a host of popular
flight routes and is the largest amongst the
10 airports in the Highlands and Islands area.
The popularity and beauty of the area provides
the region with year-round tourism; visitors
are able to explore the immediate Highland
areas or can go on to fly to the Orkney and
Shetland Islands from Inverness Airport.
The City of Inverness - around eight miles
west of the airport - is one of the fastest
growing business and social centres in the
UK. Impressively, as a result of a customer
focused approach within the business operation
Inverness Airport was recently accredited
with the Hospitality
Assured award. As the first UK airport
to receive this accreditation, Inverness Airport
is demonstrative of a successful and exemplary
air gateway. Some features that have been
improved at the airport to help deliver a
high standard of customer service are:
Introduction of a customer service survey
within the terminal building
250 additional car parking spaces
additional disabled car parking spaces
refurbishment of the catering and retail
outlets within the terminal
a no-smoking policy throughout the terminal
to increase passenger comfort
instalment of an additional disabled
toilet and baby change facility in the
departure area
a new disabled pick-up and drop off
point
introduction of designated signage and
seating for passengers with special needs
installation of hotel reservation point in terminal
The airport is able to accommodate aircraft
up to the size of a Boeing 757 with an impressive
1,900 metre runway supported by several cross-runways
for smaller and private aircraft.
